San Miguel de Allende Expat Community Resource Center

My wife and I have been going to the Expat Center since it opened in February 2022. Great service like Medicare coverage was offered by one of their professionals through the Center. We were able to get our questions answered and got enrolled. It's been great and turned out better than we expected. Also the social gatherings like the Sunday Brunches and Wednesday night dinners have been a good way to meet people.If new to San Miguel, having someone like Ava, who can point to the right resource for the questions that always come up is incredibly helpful. A great, valuable resource.

My name is Barbara Taylor, my husband, and I started our journey to San Miguel a year ago and we couldn’t have done it without the help of Ava and her staff. We just started building our retirement home and with her guidance we purchased our land and are working with the fabulous architect Rene Salgado to build our dream home. If you’re visiting, she has lunches and dinners where you can meet other ex-pats and get a wealth of information,. The center also offers wonderful tours, restaurant recommendations and even Spanish lessons. If you are planning on moving here, she has every tool to make your move here run smoothly. Her team can help you with immigration, moving your belongings, bringing your car, finding you short or long term lodging and even buying real estate or building a home. Her team of experts will guide you with your healthcare and help with Medicare.The Expat Center is your complete resource and support center. There are other companies offering similar services but we found them to be dishonest and a little shady, if you want to work with the best in SMA this is the place!

Helpful people. Lovely place to gather for coffee or conversation. Offers Spanish one-on-one classes and free conversation on Saturdays. Also offers tours to popular places and immigration help. You can volunteer to walk their rescue dogs, or adopt one!

Since moving to San Miguel 2 years ago, I have enjoyed Expat Center sponsored brunch and dinner events to see old friends and meet new ones. The center has also supplied me with valuable information and referrals concerning real estate rentals and sales, auto and home insurance, legal services, and immigration. Ava is a wonderful and knowledgeable resource who I count on frequently. I feel that I am getting value for the cost of my membership many times over.

I highly recommend Jessica and her expeditor, Sr. Apolinar, for help in getting a temporary residency card. They were referred by the Expat Center and did an amazing job! They solved several glitches and never gave up until I had my residency card in hand. They are truly dedicated and kind people!

Our first exposure to what’s now the Expat Community Resource Center was three-and-a-half years ago when it wasn’t called that, and the only thing going was the Sunday Brunch. We had such a wonderful time at the Brunches! We met people, got information, and got a feel for what life might be like when we moved here. Two months later, we said goodbye to Southern California, boarded a plane, and flew to San Miguel. We’ve never regretted it. To see the Expat Center what it is today is a testament to the care and the determination of the people who make it happen. The Center still provides a way to meet people, get information, and get a feel of what it might be like to live here, but it offers so much more. Naturally, we have to do our part and know what we need to do to integrate into our new community, but they are here to help. Highly recommend stopping by and saying “hi.” Find out for yourself what a valuable resource we have. Membership is $100 a year and really helps guarantee they will be here for all of us. It’s great value for money.
