Cool history behind the grounds! Joe is very good at creating an exciting and engaging experience with mezcal

Hidden gem! We were lucky enough to cross paths with the owner Joe while in the nearby market (itself a must-visit spot) and he let us know about his upstart mezcal business. We ventured the few short blocks down the road from the vendors and so glad we did, Joe and his wife welcomed us into their beautiful family home and had us taste some fantastic products. Delicious tasting experience and fun to walk around the grounds and learn about the buildings and family history. I suspect this place will become a destination eventually, so great to get in before Joe becomes famous :)

You can tell Joe is passionate about his business and mezcal. I highly recommend taking a bit of your time to visit, especially if you’re visiting the market, and learn about the process and taste some amazing drinks!

I never write reviews but felt like I had to on this one. We were there last month and had a great curated experience.... What can I say about Joe?!? Let me sum it up by throwing a few words at you: classy, gracious, appreciative and all around great guy... Oh and his Mezcal is fantastic too. He opened up his home to us, introduced his to his wife, daughter and business partner and toured us through his historic home after an amazing mezcal tour of all his different styles he and his partner produce... What a day, what a guy, what a great experience. If you're still reading this, it means you're interested. Mark my words, this one is not to be missed, go see him. Just hanging out with the guy will put a smile on your face, I guarantee it!!

We went to the Sunday market and stumbled upon this place. What a find! Owned and run by Joe, a 20+yr US Army vet who returned to his ancestral home to establish his own line of Mezcal and renovate his grandfather's compound. The store front is beautifully done and the Mezcals on offer are truly excellent. What really sets this place apart is the hospitality of Joe and his wife. If you come to this city for the market, do yourself a favor and venture a few blocks to Casa del Tio Joe.
