I feel so lucky to have Abbas & Terra Nova for all of my violin needs!! Equally dedicated to professionals, amateurs and students - this shop is an asset to SA musicians! After traveling around the country to find my perfect violin I ended up buying 3 violins here - my forever violin by Sergio Peresson that I play in the San Antonio Symphony, my previous pro instrument by Derezay, and a model I use for outdoor gigs. Abbas has also done a fantastic job cleaning tricky varnish, fitting bridges & rehairing my bows. Thank you, Terra Nova!

This is one of my favorite places in the world. It's always a treat getting to visit, whether it's for new strings or a new bow. I brought my violin in recently to get the bridge checked and they made beautiful adjustments to both the bridge and pegs. My violin feels so much nicer when tuning. Not only that, but I found a gorgeous bow that resonates so wonderfully with my instrument. So incredibly happy, I'd recommend this shop to everyone!!

Terra Nova Violins is easily the most excellent shop in our area for classical stringed instruments, service and repairs. As a professional musician, I truly appreciate their knowledge and expertise in repairing and restoring our valuable musical instruments. These people who work here are absolutely amazing! They work so hard to make you feel comfortable and help you find the right instrument that suits you. I can not express how far they went to help me and my mom while we were finding an instrument!

Terra Nova Violins has been my one-stop shop for all my string related needs since god knows when (2006). I have purchased a cello and case and couldn't be happier with my experience with this violin shop. They have a wide selection of instruments (from beginning level to top-notch professional quality instruments), bows, cases, sheet music, and various accessories. They also do rentals at a very good rate and offer top quality repair services and even lessons! Terra Nova Violins, Abbas and his entire staff are the best! They always take care of our instruments and bows with the utmost artistry and care. I am a violinist, and my son is a bassist. I bought a modern Cremonese violin from them in 2008, and we have also purchased a Haide bass for my son. Abbas just helped me surprise my son by installing a C extension on his bass, and he is over the moon. Thank you Abbas and family/staff for your incredible work and customer service! You are the best!

I've been going to Terra Nova since around the time that it first opened and every experience there has been great. The employees are always super helpful and accommodating and the owner, Abbas, is just wonderful. He is always honest about the state or quality of instruments and gives you a fair deal that reflects that honesty. I've purchased both a student instrument for high school and a professional level instrument for college at Terra Nova and both of them were of great quality, especially for their prices. This shop is my go-to place for accessories and other goods as well, including cases, sheet music, strings, metronomes, shoulder rests, and a bunch of other useful items for string players. They also have great rental deals for the low price of around $30 a month if purchasing an instrument is outside of your price range. I recommend this shop to anyone I meet that is in need of a stringed instrument or accessories, and I can't imagine myself shopping anywhere else in San Antonio.

Sepas (hopefully I am spelling that correct) was a pleasure to meet. He was polite and very helpful. I highly recommend speaking to him for your instrument needs. I highly recommend this store!

I've been coming here for years. Mainly due to the fact that this is one of the very few places that has a professional luthier. Most of the time the service was decent, they weren't ever warm or welcoming, but I felt my instrument was in good hands when I left the store. Recently however, I felt the customer service was terrible. I took my baby bass in to get restrung, and they looked at my like I was foreign. Upon picking it up I noticed that they didn't do a bridge adjustment or even set the strings to stretch. The literally just slapped them on and went about their day. When I asked the clerk why they didnt do any of those services, he said they don't really work on these types of instruments so they don't know how. That's fine if you tell me before I leave my bass, not after you do a terrible job and I am forced to pay for it. The clerks feel as though they don't know what they are doing, and they have a very pretentious attitude when I walk in. The only reason I still came here was so that I can get the professional luthier to change my strings. However, he is too busy always talking on his phone so he has his clerks do it. If I am going to pay money to have my strings changed then I rather it be the actual luthier not a seventeen year old kid. I'm not usually one to do this sort of thing but I just finally had enough. If you're not a classical player than don't bother coming here, because that is truly the only clientele they care about.
